ROAD NEWS
learnings Triumph has taken directly from the Moto2 paddock where the firm is the official engine supplier . For 2023 , the 765cc engine ’ s compression ratio has been raised from 12.65:1 to 13.25:1 - an increase of 4.7 %. New pistons , con-rods and gudgeon pins are matched to new , optimised combustion chambers for an increased cylinder pressure limit and , ultimately , more power . New valves and camshafts give increased valve lift for improved intake , combustion and exhaust efficiency , with new gearbox ratios and final drive for improved performance and responsiveness . The 765 Triple retains a 120-degree firing order and hasn ’ t moved to Triumph ’ s T-plane crank as seen in the Tiger range , as that is more designed for mid-range power . The Street Triple R comes fitted with Showa 41mm upside down separate function big piston forks and a Showa piggyback reservoir monoshock RSU . For the higher specification
Street Triple R
Street Triple RS this comes equipped with topspecification Showa 41mm upside down big piston forks and an Öhlins piggyback reservoir rear shock . Braking is supplied exclusively by Brembo , with the R scoring a set of Brembo ’ s M4.32 4-piston radial monobloc calipers at the front and a Brembo single piston sliding caliper at the rear . For the RS and Moto2 , Triumph steps things up a notch with top-spec Brembo Stylema 4-piston radial monobloc front calipers with twin 310mm floating discs Electronics have also seen a boost in ability , with the 2023 Street Triple range benefitting from new optimised cornering ABS and Traction Control , with the latter being switchable should the rider want it off . The new Street Triple R features four riding modes : Road , Rain , Sport and Riderconfigurable . This makes it easy to fine tune the Street Triple to suit the rider ’ s preferences . The Street Triple RS and Moto2 Edition add a Track mode on top of the R ’ s standard four modes . All three models score Triumph ’ s Shift Assist quickshifter as a standard feature . When it comes to the cockpit , this is where the biggest visible difference between the R and the RS / Moto2 is found . For the R , Triumph has utilised the same digital display that debuted with the Trident . The RS and Moto2 both utilise a fullcolour 5-inch TFT display which is angle adjustable . At the time of writing we have no word yet on pricing for the Kiwi market , but we ’ ll let you know as soon as Triumph New Zealand makes an announcement .
