he OiLibya Rally Morocco has provided
some great racing and some stunning
visuals during the first two weeks of
October. Set three months ahead
of the Dakar Rally, the Moroccan
Rally serves as a good shakedown
for both riders and teams in the lead up to
the main Rally Raid event of the season.
Red Bull KTM Rally Factory Racing’s Matthias
Walkner secured victory, wrapping up the week-
long adventure in the dunes of North Africa with
victory in the event’s final stage. Topping the
standings on the sixth and final day of competition
in Morocco, Walkner has won the last round of the
2017 FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship.
Collecting valuable points, the Austrian rider
moved up to third in the series’ final standings.
