ROAD NEWS
McLaren Motorsport Park . He has been extremely supportive and has been giving Reeve lots of opportunities to go out on the track . From the beginning , he has said he will do all he can to help nurture Reeve ‘ s budding skills . Another thank you goes out to Scotty , who is putting together a mentoring programme for Reeve , which is first and foremost to keep him safe on the track while riding , but also looking toward where he can refine his race lines , braking and acceleration . Poppa George at Promoto Motorcycles in Taupo is his grandson ’ s number one fan and we couldn ’ t do it without his support and encouragement . MNZ has also been very supportive . After a couple of phone calls , we wrote to them to see if they would issue Reeve dispensation to race the last two rounds of the NZSBK series in the Gixxer class . They required an outline of Reeve ’ s experience , and we sent a video of him riding the Gixxer on the track . They also required a mentoring plan from Uncle Scotty and spoke to SJ Cavell about Reeve ’ s riding ability ( as he has also ridden with him ), and were happy to grant him the dispensation to race . Reeve is a very sensible , modest , coolheaded boy , who is able to take / make calculated risks . He is 145cm tall and is 42kg . He is a very fit active boy who , when he is not on a motorbike , enjoys rugby , riding his scooter and swimming in the lake . He has a current MNZ motocross licence . We were hoping , if all goes well in the last two rounds of NZSBK in the Gixxer class , that he can possibly ride the Tri-Series , then the NZSBK series next year . We know how important it is to have young blood in the sport , and we feel Reeve would make a great role model for what kids are capable of in the sport of road racing . If anyone is keen to help a young fella up in the world of road racing , we are always keen for sponsorship , so come and have a chat .
