The main changes for 2023 in Kawasaki ’ s range come in the KX250 , KX250X , KX85 and KX65L models . The rest of Team Green ’ s dirt range remains largely unchanged , with pricing and arrival in New Zealand yet to be locked in by Kawasaki New Zealand at the time of writing , however the first bikes are expected to arrive later this year .
KX250 / KX250X On the receiving end of the bulk of the coming year ’ s updates is the 2023 KX250 , which now boasts more power , revised tyre sizing and revised gearing among a host of other changes . Tuned with racers in mind , the 249cc four-stroke engine receives several updates for 2023 that are designed to help the KX250 achieve stronger performance across the revrange for quicker lap times and better holeshot performance according to Kawsaki . The KX250 continues to utilise Kawasaki ’ s WSBK-derived finger-follower valve actuation to help achieve a high rev limit that allows for the use of more aggressive cam profiles and for high rpm performance . A narrower pitch for the intake valves ( down from 37mm to 35.5mm ) coupled with increased clearance at the valve seats offer better efficiency and improved combustion for better peak performance . Interestingly , the valves themselves are smaller by 1mm at 31mm , something which Kawasaki says contributes to cylinder-head / valve-seat reliability while enabling the tighter valve pitch . As a result of the updates to the valve system , the piston crown has also been revised to match the valve size and pitch changes . Downdraft-style intake duct is straighter , and the upstream
