I think the S1000R is the
nicest of the lot for all
round, everyday riding
performance. You know, like fantastic brakes, a
slipper-clutch, amazing suspension and chassis,
plus heaps of go and a quick-shifter with auto-
blip that just makes the engine sound so cool as
you clutchlessly down or up-shift through the
gears. And guess what? BMW’s S1000R comes
with all this stuff, and more. Add in cruise-control,
heated grips, electronic suspension, power modes
and a very slick looking Akrapovic muffler – and
this is an extremely sophisticated machine.
Of all the naked bikes I have ridden this BMW
is probably my favourite. Yes, there are faster
