NORTON COMMANDO Considered the last British superbike of 1970s , the Norton Commando will be remembered for being the vertical twin that eliminated the curse of vibration that had plagued previous models . ‘ Isolastic ’ was the name given to the system that isolated the engine and gearbox from the frame by a series of rubber mounts . At 180kg it was also light for a 750 , which no doubt contributed to the success of the factory built production racing Commandos .
HONDA CB750 Honda ’ s 1969 CB750 was the beginning of the modern superbike era . It was the factory ’ s first attempt to produce a large capacity machine , and became one of the most influential motorcycles ever produced . I wonder how many of the models at the auction remain in New Zealand to this day .
