Enduro machines of 200cc have a very proud history on our NZ race scene . In the early 80s Mark “ tadpole ” Davies showed most the way on a Yamaha IT200 . Terry Cameron , Shaun Stanbridge and Mark MacDonald - yes , the father of a very fast young man on a Sherco on the world enduro scene currently - were also the men to beat on Kawasaki KDX200s . Later came KTM 200EXCs which were genuine giant killers too . Sadly , those machines are no longer with us , because , not only were they highly competent in an overall sense , they were also fantastic bikes for young up-andcoming riders and racers , before , perhaps , going on to more powerful machines . Happily , in recent years Beta has filled this important hole in the market with what I ’ d consider the best 200 of all time . The RR 200 2T Racing is super impressive . It has a full-sized , but light weight chassis with full length suspension travel . In the past 200s tended to be smaller in chassis and some had shorter suspension travel which compromised them at race pace unless very well setup or the rider was of smaller stature . Beta ’ s 200s are proven winners on the world stage too with many recent titles .
