FLAT TRACK INSPIRED INDIAN 1200 ndian Motorcycles has launched two new machines, the FTR1200 and FTR1200S, to celebrate the success of the company's FTR750 flat track racer. The FTR750 won the 2017 American Flat Track Manufacturer’s Championship for Indian, giving the American manufacturer its first championship title for over 60 years. The two new machines ape the design of the race machine, featuring a 1203cc V-twin motor that pumps out 120hp and 115Nm, ensuring there'll be plenty of mumbo to back up the racer looks. Indian claims a flat torque curve for predictable power delivery 20 KIWI RIDER and lots of flexibility. The engine boasts a 12.5:1 compression ratio, high-flow cylinder heads, twin throttle bodies, extensive use of magnesium to reduce weight and a low inertia crank for a fast revving nature. Housed in a trellis frame with a sporty riding position, both models feature inverted front suspension with radially- mounted twin disc Brembo brakes. The fuel tank is located under the seat for a low centre of gravity and more centralised weight distribution. Similar to the FTR750 racer, the airbox is positioned directly above the engine to optimise airflow.
